How To Publish RSS Feeds

First let's clean up some definition confusions:

NOW LET'S START PUBLISHING OUR RSS FEED!

First we need a webpage which is technically called "item."
Items are web pages that you want others to link to. We need at least one. For example, this site has a webpage called "EnjoyHappiness News" and it is the first and only item at the moment. "EnjoyHappiness News" page will have a summary of new content in the site as it is added.
For this item we need the following information:
* Title
* Description
* Link

1- Open a text editor (Notepad) to start you RSS file. Start writing your title, description and the link.

For example:

Enjoy Happiness News

Enjoy Happiness News- Get the RSS/XML Feeds from EnjoyHappiness.com and discover everything you ever need to know to be happy.

2- Now we need to label these at the beginning and at the end as title, description and link.

Here is how it will look like:

3- As this whole thing called "item", we need to label it as "item".
Use
at the beginning and
at the end.

4- If you want you can add more items (pages) exactly as above. But for Enjoy Happiness only one page is going to be distributed.

5- Now we need to define the "channel" we are going to distribute content which is "Enjoy Happiness" site. We need again title, description and link but this time for the entire site not for a special page. And it will NOT be labelled "item".

Here is how it will look like:

6- Now all together it should look like this:

7- Now we need to say which version of XML and RSS we are using. The following will be safe for many versions.
At the top of the file, write:





And at the bottom of the file, write:




8- Now all together your file should look like this:

9- SAVE the file with any name you want BUT with the extention XML.

For example:

enjoyhappiness-news.xml

10- Now you can put it anywhere on your website.

For SBI sites like EnjoyHappiness.com, go to Site Central. Click on the "XML IT" button. Click on the "Browse" button and find you RSS file which you just saved in your computer as .xml with your notepad.

And Press XML IT button at the end. It will check and validate your file.

11- Next step is putting the orange button in your webpage and LINKING it to your RSS file. You can also add the MyYahoo button and link it to your RSS file by following Yahoo's directions.

12- Write you first feed/news/blog/content or what ever you want to call it and ENJOY!!!
